This was once considered
a subspecies of
Tabanus sparus
i.e.,
Tabanus sparus milleri
but is now considered simply a variety; thus
Tabanus sparus
var milleri. Note that
T. sparus
females lack an eye stripe whereas this variety has a single eye stripe.
