Are these butterflies Silvery Checkerspots or Pearl Crescents? I'm thinking they're a Checkerspot variety.

I agree - Silvery Checkerspot
They can vary enough to make you wonder, but they're fairly easy to id in MN/WI. These look like the ones I've seen.
