Size: about 1 inch
I found this moth sleeping in the daytime in a sheltered spot by the wall. After I photographed it and put it outside again, it stayed put until dusk, then flew away.

Looking closely at the others here, it does seem so.

I had looked at a few photos of yellow underwings, but none seemed quite the thing. The ones here on BugGuide do seem quite similar.
