Identification
Scutum usually with two gray spots in between transverse sutures
Fore and mid legs without large dark spots on femora, usually evenly pale brown, but sometimes with smaller dark areas
Wing without spurious vein
Male:
Hind femur with large peg at base
Medial black stripe on second and third tergites vestigial to absent
Female:
Maculae on fourth tergite somewhat triangular, extending posteriorly along the lateral margin
Range
native to so. Europe and Africa, introduced to the US (TX), Mexico, Chile, Brazil
