Mating Beetles - Lucidota atra - male - female

Mating Beetles - Lucidota atra - Male Female
Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA

I am not sure what these are but they look similar to our common fireflies.

Moved
Moved from Black Firefly.

Black Fireflies
Lucidota atra. These are readily recognized by their entirely black elytra and serrated antennae. Adults are diurnal and glow only shortly following eclosure (emergence from the pupal stage); they cease to produce light shortly afterwards. Larvae and pupae do have the ability do glow. I have documented and posted that behavior in the Guide. If you want, you may check that out here.
Nice image, and welcome to BugGuide!

Thanks
Thanks for the ID! So they are fireflies. It's nice to know what I'm taking pictures of. Thanks again.

Moved
Moved from Arthropods. You'll get more responses in ID Request, I think.

Thanks
Thanks for the move. ID is where I wanted to put it.
