Photographed feeding on Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota), a tolerated weed in a mostly native sand prairie garden. My guess is Trichopoda pennipes.

at least the fly formerly known as
Trichopoda pennipes
The editors have been leaving them at Subgenus Galactomyia in anticipation of a revision of the taxonomy
