I disagree -
It resembles more an Apamea amputatrix, one of the many variations of it. It has no basal patch of tan, no distinct tan markings bordered with black - And at the inner margin, it carries the common whitish band A. amputatrix have. I could be wrong, but I just don't think this is the Speckled Cutworm.

 
I concur
This moth is not Lacanobia subjuncta. It is much more similar to moths in the genus Amputratrix or Spiramater and should be moved.
