Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
Size: about 4.5 mm
I found a good half-dozen adult Iro*nclad Beetles under bark near a large conk and these little guys dressed in old-fashioned prisoner stripes were working away on the bottom side of the conk. They had holes up into the conk but seemed comfortable just hanging onto the underside while they chewed away, abdomen dangling in the air.

All have died :-(
Ueno Teruhisa says these are in family Tetratomidae. The only adults I encountered with conks were Pen*the but they were on different conk species than these.
