Is this Melittia cucurbitae? What a great insect! It is feeding on milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)

This is a stunning photo, may I ask what you were using, and what settings you achieved it with?

Thank you so much!
I take pride in my photos. I actually use a point-and-shoot camera that I bought specifically for my new love of nature macro photography on a student budget.

I use a Pentax Optio W20. Pentax point-and-shoots are known for their exceptional macro lenses and this camera has a focus range of 1cm! It's small, light weight, water proof and dust proof. Perfect for the outdoors.

As far as settings, that's a little harder to explain. It really comes down to familiarity with camera and having ample practice coordinating the macro lense with the zoom and flash to get sharp focus without frightening or over exposing the subject. The two most important ingredients are, of course, patience and luck.
