Cool find
Hey William, this is C. haemorrhagica, a new species for BugGuide, so that is very cool. Two of the pictures are decent enough to be useful for the guide (this one and the ventral photo), but I suggest we frass the others since they're a little too fuzzy and dark to see any useful characters.

Thanks for a new addition to BugGuide! Let me know if you need help finding more of that species. I have some eastern CA localities for you if you're interested. - Dan

thanks
I would be very interested in localities if you have them. I'm trying to collect as many different species of cicindela as I can in CA, but the habitats to find them are few and far between.

California
I looked at some of your other posts and noticed your habitat photos... those are all great places to get tiger beetles! Any open sparely-vegetated ground (especially near water) will have tiger beetles, although time of year and available moisture will detemine which are present. Salty / alkali habitats are especially good (and you probably collected this specimen in an alkali mud flat or close to one).

Feel free to email me and I'll send you localities for specific species out your way. I'm glad to see you've been bit by the tiger beetle collecting bug! - Dan
