Red-legged Nymph - Melanoplus femurrubrum

Red-legged Nymph - Melanoplus femurrubrum
Wellesley, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA
July 7, 2007
Doesn't match anything I have photographed before. Couldn't locate in the guide. Approximately 9mm.

Moved
Moved from Melanoplus.

Melanoplus femurrubrum
The pattern is fairly typical for this species. This one is 3rd instar. You can see veins in the wing lobes, but they still point down (on the upper side, above the middle leg).

Melanoplus sp. nymph.
Nymph of a Melanoplus sp. Impossible to ID most all Melanoplus (even adults) from an image alone.
