July 14, 2004
Size: wingspan ~30mm
Speciment No. 140. Geometridae / Larentiinae / Tribe? / Ceratodalia: Ceratodalia gueneata; Geometridae Moth with patterned ventral (bottom) and rather plain dorsal (top - on left).July 14, 2004
The reversed patterned geometrid specimen #140. One of the more interesting among the hundreds I have photographed. The dorsal view is the plain tan washed view (left) and the venter is the patterned right hand view. Size ws ~30mm, body total ~10mm. The digital image of specimen 140 (dorsal and ventral view of same individual) and the wings folded #160 is close to or identical to Ceratodalia gueneata MONA 7221 - A Geometrid with no common name that I could find. Ref: Jim Vargo's Plates in Moth Photographers and the images on the folowing link which show the contrasting ventral side of the wings.
