5th Instar Narrow-Winged Mantis Nymph - Tenodera angustipennis

5th Instar Narrow-Winged Mantis Nymph - Tenodera angustipennis
July 13, 2016
Size: 1 1/4"
Hatched in captivity. I think this may be a female but I'm not sure. This is the first time I have raised mantises, but I'm getting some pretty good pictures. The color variations between them and between molts are very interesting.

Moved
Moved from Carolina Mantis. I've looked at your high-res image and it is indeed a Tenoderan.

Thank you!
I'm glad to finally know what kind she is.

Actually tenodera sp.
Actually tenodera sp.

The ootheca looked like Stagomantis
I thought Tenodera oothecae were more globular. Also I can keep track of this individual and take more pictures as she ages, so we can know for sure.

Pronotum
Looks a bit too long for Tenodera. This is a "perfect" image, so I can't blow it up. I can't see the vertically striped face which is characteristic of the North American Tenoderans.

I think it may be Tenodera angustipennis
Looking at photos of other specimens and ootheca and comparing them with my own (living) specimens lead me to believe that this may be Tenodera angustipennis. Where should I put the photo now since the classification is indeterminate?

Image resolution...
I uploaded the higher resolution file but I'm not sure it will help because it's kind of blurry. I might as well add more images of the same specimen though. And if I need to take closer shots I can.

Count
The ventral abdominal segments. A female will have six. From the picture it appears to me this is a female, but perform a count if you still have her available.
