24hr Berlese, leaf litter from seepage wetland with lots of skunk cabbage.

This is one of my favorite carabid species! It's not well-represented in either of the large collections I've visited (1 in VMNH, ~12 in CMNH) but it can be really common in the right spots (as Tom has demonstrated on this site). It seems to like a thin layer of fine leaf litter, in close proximity to water. My best spot for collecting it is a narrow shaded stream with wide flat banks that are covered in finely broken-down dead leaves.
