Leaf-cutting Bee - Megachile - male

Leaf-cutting Bee - Megachile - Male
Central Park - Shakespeare Garden, New York County, New York, USA
July 1, 2007
Size: appx 10mm
Hairy bee - all the hair, including very hairy face, looked gold-colored. It came in for a few seconds only twice in 1/2 hour and sat splayed out like this - never saw it go to any flowers. Thanks, Sandy

This should be Megachile centuncularis
based on subtle characters, so I'm not 100% certain, but everything fits and that is a common species there.

Thanks so much! Really appreciate all the new species IDs. Sandy&Lloyd

Nice shot
Very cute bee. The artfully deployed pollen also deserves praise. LOL!

Thanks Ron
Yes, a very cute bee! So hard to get a species ID on this genus tho! Sandy
