Doubleday Bluet Damselfly - Lestes - male

Doubleday Bluet Damselfly - Lestes - Male
Eagan, Ramsey County, Minnesota, USA
August 16, 1984
Size: 2 inches
This was one of my first sharp, best images of an insect.I had rented a 400mm lens and added a 25mm extension tube and mounted my camera and lens on a tripod. Near my apartment balcony on the hill, there were natural grasses growing. I saw this colorful male damselfly clinging to a grass head in the breeze. I prefocused on the damselfly when the breeze was till and when it was blown back into my image frame I clicked the shutter. Image was taken with a Mamiya -Sekor 500dtl slr film camera, fitted with a 400 mm lens and a 25 mm extension tube. I used a cable release and all was on a sturdy low tripod.

Looks to us to be a Lestes
and we don't see any secondary genitalia, so we would guess this is a female. Let's see what others think.
