Same as other post?
This looks like the same species as your other post except the hindwing disc is darker. Otherwise it looks the same to me. It looks a lot like the Atlantis I see in northern WI, but not quite the same.

I spent only one morning in the Helena area in '05 and got a lot of frit shots. I still can't positively ID them. All very similar and they're all variable. Time and patience will make you the MT expert.

Nice photos.

Actually it is a different bf
Actually it is a different bfly and the wing patterns are different too. Hope someone can figure it out.

Speyeria atlantis?
Hi, I strongly suspect this is S. atlantis and not S. hesperis, but am not as certain about this one as your others from the same area. It is a bit redder, and the silver spots a bit more stretched out. Even so, the shape of the wings and the overall "look" of it are S. atlantis. I would be more sure if I could see the upper side. Usually they look quite different, but there the occasional individuals that are a bit difficult. Another beautiful photo!

Check out this one from Wisconsin (no S. hesperis there at all). It is a female, so the top is less red and it has broader black markings, but the underside is typical, and matches your's quite nicely.
