The data page didn't have a record for these guys in SC, or in July, so I thought I'd add these shots from earlier today. There is a boardwalk through the Francis Beidler Forest to (and through) Four Holes Swamp. This nest was about 8 feet off the water, which was head high to me, standing at the viewing area at one end of the boardwalk. While it was a sunny day, it's very shaded in this area, which meant long exposures. The tripod helped a lot, but they are still not very sharp. I tried a couple with the flash, which helped with details like the segments of the antennae, but also made too many things shiny and blown out, so I'm going with crops from the two best of the non-flash shots.
