Asilid - Andrenosoma fulvicaudum - female

Asilid - Andrenosoma fulvicaudum - Female
Pleasant Valley Conservancy SNA, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
July 24, 2016
Found on fallen hardwood tree/log, mixed hardwood forest.

Pretty sure it is a female Andrenosoma fulvicaudum. Confirmation appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Andrenosoma.

Indeed
And these seem to need some pine forest mixed in in our area. Always an uncommon robber in any area. But they will come and land on you.

Thanks
Thanks Herschel.

I was completely surprised to see this, although the place at which I have been hanging out is a robber gold mine. The initial one I saw yesterday was perched enjoying a meal on a thick twig on the gravel path. Got a couple of shots of it before it left for good. Then I found one on a recently fallen hardwood tree and got more shots. Then I investigated a couple of log/slash piles from recent storm damage and at least 3-4 were hanging out there. I don't recall ever seeing them in Wisconsin before in all my travels. Our museum has one specimen from further north.
