Monarch for California in July - Danaus plexippus

Monarch for California in July - Danaus plexippus
Craig Park, Fullerton, Orange County, California, USA
July 11, 2007
This is the second to last photo in a series of twelve, showing that Monarch are flying in Orange County year 'round. Many published sources had it otherwise, while a couple were right. I did miss May, but saw several Monarchs at Fullerton Arboretum that month and plan to shoot one next year to complete this series. (Actually, they're much easier to shoot at nearby Craig Park.)

Excellent Work!
Excellent work, Ron! That really puts the science into this site, by describing what is out there and when. I try to emulate your work in the things I post, so as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
