Butterfly or moth? - Gnophaela discreta

Butterfly or moth? - Gnophaela discreta
Lake Almanor, Plumas County, California, USA
June 1, 2004
This butterfly/moth was taken mid-morning in a Jeffrey pine area next to Lake Almanor in June of 2004. There were a large number of them flying around the pines and alighting on Mountain Pennyroyal. It was suggested to me by a "butterfly" person that he could not ID it and to think moth. It seems to have "feathery" antena. The photo is a blown up scan of a picture taken on film so not as clear as I would like.
