Black Locust (the host plant) - Thelia bimaculata

Above is a compliation of images I took of the characteristic features of the tree these hoppers were found on. I believe the tree species is Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). I think that the thorny trunk is only characteristic of younger trees of this species.
