Explanation of Names
Calo-, Greek for beautiful, plus Lydella, the name of a related genus of Tachinidae.
Identification
"Adults, which are slender and boldly marked with black stripes and bands on a background of yellowish pruinosity, seem to lack distinctive chaetotaxic characters, and are difficult to characterize to genus except by their general appearance." (Wood, 1985)
Range
A mostly Mexican genus with one species ranging north to Canada and a few more south into Central and South America.
Remarks
C. summatis was recently recorded in Arizona.
