Carolina Grasshopper - Dissosteira carolina

Carolina Grasshopper - Dissosteira carolina
Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin, USA
July 12, 2007
Spotted at the edge of the Rock River in Beloit, WI

Adult Carolina grasshopper.
This is a very freshly-molted adult of the Carolina grasshopper, Dissosteira carolina. It will darken a bit as pigments become more evident.

I've always heard these guys
I've always heard these guys called Locusts? Is this just a common name associated with the Carolina Grasshopper? Thanks
