Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 4, 2007
Size: about 2.3 mm
Found this unexcitable fellow on the underside of a conk I had just removed from a dead tree. I was impressed with his size. He held still while I advanced an open compartment of a plastic pill sorter toward him and hopped directly into the cubicle, sitting still while I closed the lid. To me it bears great similarity to members of genus Ptenothrix, so that is where I have placed it. This find was one of the many collateral benefits in my Forest Service-approved
search for Py*tho str*ictus.
