Wedge-shaped Beetle - Macrosiagon pectinata - male

Macrosiagon pectinata (Fabricius 1775), male
Lynette-

This appears to be a rather dark specimen of M. pectinata. As I've mentioned previously, the coloration and size in the genus is remarkably variable, so there's little to point to in this picture that is "characteristic" of this species other than perhaps the transverse impression along the posterior aspect of the pronotum (and even then, that is not always present).

Still, a new species for the site.

cheers,

zack
