This is Hyperaspidius. Wider overall than Hyperaspis species, featuring a more oblong shape, and with eyes more widely separated.
As you say, no known Hyperaspis with this pattern (Hyperaspis trifurcata is closest, but still far off).

Leavengood originally keyed his spmn to Hyperaspidius
there are a small number of
Hyperaspidius/Hyperaspis
near misses, but I think this is a new sp. or at least a new US record...

I would still be surprised (personally) if Hyperaspis
If this were then the boundaries between the two genera are going to start becoming cloudier than I would like. Is there an underside photo available so we can compare the epipleuron (as in Gordon 1985)?
Pattern aside I don't know if the shape (oblong, somewhat parallel sided) could be ignored for Hyperaspidius. I'm still finding the eyes very far apart for a Hyperaspis whereas this would not look out of place on Hyperaspidius. Have you taken a look at the specimen yourself yet?
Wonder what the eye colour is...
