krummholz - Pterostichus

krummholz - Pterostichus
Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 6, 2007
Here are a few shots of the krummholz or "twisted tree" forest zone that I will link to for some other submissions as well. These trees were more dwarfed on this side of the Mt. Washington Auto Road than on the other side. I found the two Pterostichus larvae under moss that grew beneath similar trees. I found a number of Pyt*ho larvae and a large adult long*horn under bark within 100 ft. downhill of this spot.

See Forum article on search for Py*tho stri*ctus.
