Lema
cool species of Lema! Not in the guide yet and also not among the species from Alabama and a checklist from southern Texas only lists L. trivitata (which it is not). On what species of Solanum did you find it or on both ptycanthum and americanum. Hope we can figure out what species it is.

S. ptycanthum
I corrected it on one image and didn't catch the error on the other, but they were on S. ptycanthum. My brain was stuck on old nomenclature.

Solanum spp feeding Lema spp.....
Didn't realize what a *huge* genus Solanum was...

Per Clark et al (1), these are the Solanum spp. feeding Lema spp.

Lema conjuncta
Lema daturaphila (most common Solanum feeding Lema sp.)
Lema nigrovittata
Lema opulenta
Lema solani
Lema trivittata

Per Riley et al (2), all of which occur in Texas, but ovbiously, it's not any of the linked spp.... Mike

two candidates
Thanks Mike. From the 22 species in the states this list leaves 2 more likely candidates: L. nigrovitata & L. opulenta. The rest of the list I can exclude. nigrovitata sound like something with black lines, not sure what opulenta means...but its my favorite sofar...

little help
it's not very good, but this reference briefly describes L. nigrovitata.

thanks for the link
well it is obviously not nigrovittata than. Hope we can get confirmation on opulenta by some description or photo, before we exclude a new hostplantrecord for some other species.
