Identification
The rather large hypopygium that is folded underneath the abdomen as in this specimen here is rather typical for a large number of dolichopodid genera, certainly in Dolichopodinae, Medeterinae and Neurigoninae. The specimen depicted here seems to belong to Dolichopus plumipes which has a Holarctic distribution (see Pollet et al, 2004). It's not entirely clear on the picture, but the mid tibia of this species shows a distinct brown strike on its dorsal face, and, of course, the plumose metatarsus of the same leg.
