Spider - Micrathena gracilis - male

Spider - Micrathena gracilis - Male
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
June 9, 2007
Sitting in web which was a well organized orb. I can't find anything close from scanning at genus level.

Moved
Moved from Micrathena.

Very
nice. It looks to me like a subadult male Micrathena, either spined or white. I bet it was small. Any idea of size?

Small enough
that my autofocus wouldn't work. I had to focus on the leaf and hope the spider was in the same plane. I haven't created a system for field notes yet so didn't document anything directly.

My woods are loaded with Micrathena now so that fits.
