Explanation of Names
Selenophorus Dejean 1829
'moon-bearing', refers to the shiny appearance of some members of this genus. [PWM]

Serial punctures in elytral striae 2, 5, 7 are characteristic of this and 3 more related genera in our area, viz Selenophorus, Amblygnathus, Athrostictus, Discoderus
