I noticed these tiny oval structures attched all over this rove beetle, Ontholestes cingulatus and was wandering what they might be.

deutonymphal Uropodoidea
Great photo! They are uropodoids, and most likely Uropodidae, but there are some other families in this superfamily that also attach with an anal pedicel.

Moved from Uropodidae. I would hesitate to assume any specific mite family unless our mite experts suggest such. I only meant to illustrate that some mites are similar in appearance.
