Wasp - Timulla

Wasp - Timulla
Weldon Spring, St. Charles County, Missouri, USA
July 15, 2007
Could not find a match. Need help with an ID.

Timulla sp., male
Moved from Velvet Ants.

Pseudomethoca?
I'm leaning toward that genus, anyway. I feel it is quite safe assigning it to mutillids:-)

Male Mutillid
Dasymutilla sp., maybe?

Might it be
Could it be a Scoliid?

Maybe...
maybe not. I was just making the ID based on Velvet Ants and Scoliids I have seen...I'm not so sure the photo is detailed enough for me to refute YOUR ID, however. Maybe another wasp expert will weigh in.

You know
You know way way way more than me. I only suggested it because the Mutillids I've seen have a shorter abdomen, with a different shape to it. It's a cool insect in any case!
