Lake larva - Aeshna eremita

Lake larva - Aeshna eremita
One of the lakes off of Mirror Lake Highway (route 150), Duchesne County, Utah, USA
July 19, 2016
I took this photo of the critter in situ, where Clay originally had spotted it, before I grabbed it for some photos in the hand. It was perched on the stem of a lily pad, very close to the surface. Given its prominent wing buds, plus its proximity to the air, I'm guessing that it was getting ready to emerge and become an adult dragon.
