Am sitting here looking at a half unit tray full of K. vians plus two specimens of K. scripticollis in the
TAMUIC
plus I'm reading up on both spp. in the Lead Beetle Catlog

. Seems that the taxon
scripticollis
was treated as a northern form of K. vians but the authors of the LBC elevated it to full species status.
K. vians consistently have the dorsal portion of their pronota filled with black except for the reddish edges. K. scripticollis have a kind of squiggly bold line through their pronota:
