Bee fly - Sparnopolius confusus

Bee fly - Sparnopolius confusus
Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan, USA
August 28, 2016
The goldenrod is finally blooming in a couple of places in the yard. I was trying to identify some little wasps when this "bee" dove into the flowers and stayed just long enough for me to snap these two pictures. It looks like a bee fly of the genus Systoechus, but I understand it's a little fuzzy to expect a species call. No matter, Michigan hasn't reported any members of the genus, so if it's Systoechus, it will be a first. I'm adding another picture which at least shows the wing venation.
