Using a sweep net, I managed to capture part of a swarm of these flies that was hovering over a compost bin with decomposing vegetables and other organic matter. Coordinates: 31.695588, -106.282175.
The fly in this photo had a mite stuck to its left foreleg. The vial where I collected the flies overheated and this fly was the only one to survive.
