Fun to Watch - Grallipeza nebulosa

Size: 12 mm
This same fly was involved in a turf war protecting its real estate. It could be courtship, but as I watched, she seemed to chase the other one awsay. These flies are very animated and entertaining to observe.

Quite a face-off.
Wish we had those guys in Southern California. Google "boxing flies" sometime for more ready-to-rumble diptera.
