Cotinis mutabilis?? - Cotinis nitida

Pretty sure this is Cotinis mutabilis, anyone care to hazard a guess?

Moved
Moved from Cotinis. C. nitida is the answer.

Moved from Beetles.

C.nitida
because c.mutabulis lives in california's central valley and southeastern arizona, while c.nitida lives in the eastern U.S

Cotinis
I think that the genus is a safe bet, but I don't know how to distinguish the different species. C. nitida looks like a probably suspect to to me as well. Hopefully an expert can make the call, but if not, you can be confident enough to add this to the genus page.

I agree with David
Were you in California, I'd say Cotinis mutabilis without reservation. (I shot one myself on Friday and have been seeing them in Orange County for about a week.) However, C. nitida looks likely and perhaps a tad better, based on Bug Guide Data listings for both species. Hope you get an expert opinion, Will.
