...but I don't think this female skimmer can be IDed from these photos. I think you'd need more detailed shots of the lateral thoracic pattern and the facial color.

Hmmm, I don't think so. Were there male Slaty Skimmers around? If so, then this probably is one. It seems like a fine fit, but I just don't know how to eliminate Great Blue Skimmer conclusively.
