Serpentine Webworm Moth - Herpetogramma aeglealis

Serpentine Webworm Moth - Herpetogramma aeglealis
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA

Moved
These moths show quite a range between light and dark, but those marks are consistent.

Close
This is the Serpentine Webworm moth, Herpetogramma aeglealis, # 5280. This species can be separated from similar species by the light patch between two median spots on forewing, and by a distinctive patch of light (or white) fringe scales on tornus of forewing. I created a species page and noted these characteristics.

Great image.
