Inconsistent clam shrimp placements

Martin 2001(1), EoL, and ITIS have Spinicaudata and Laevicaudata as suborders under Diplostraca. ToL has them both as orders. BG has Spinicaudata as a suborder, but Laevicaudata as an order. If there are no objections, I'll to move Laeviaudata to a suborder under Diplostraca.

Thanks
This is fine with me. Martin 2001(1) has Laevicaudata as a suborder under Diplostraca. Rogers 2009(2) has it as an order alongside Diplostraca (its prior BG placement). There is no consensus, according to Jenner 2010[cite:1301067], which states, "the phylogenetic position of Laevicaudata remains unclear". As such, I would stick with ITIS, which cites and agrees with Martin. I will update the Laevicaudata Info page with this information.

I support this change
It's not clear to me on what basis Laevicaudata was placed as an order to begin with--even ToL doesn't actually refer to it as an order; they just use unranked clades.

It sure would be nice if we didn't have to bug John every time we want to change the rank of a taxon. I've had to do this a number of times, and he hasn't responded when I've asked for help. I somehow doubt there are many links to BugGuide's Laevicaudata page out there, but if John is willing to make the change, that would certainly be easiest.

Encyclopedia of Inland Waters
Rogers 2009(1) therein is consistent with current Branchiopoda taxonomy in BG, although Subclasses are skipped here. So, there must have been some development since Martin 2001.

I don't think as editors that we have the ability
to change the level of a page. At least I don't think you will be able to turn an Order page into a Suborder page. And we definitely do not want you to create a new suborder page and delete the old order page. That kind of activity will break all kinds of links on the web to BugGuide pages. Instead, you can send an email to John VanDyk and ask him to move the page to its new position once you get support for your position. Please do not delete any BugGuide pages.
