1. Five balsam poplar (Populus balsamifera) leaves collected 13 Sep 2016.
2. Active green larvae noticed on 18 Sep 2016.
3. Larvae had acquired a shortened thick appearance by 26 Sep 2016.
4, 5, 6. Prepupa of surviving larva noticed on 4 October 2016.

Some of the curled leaves had thick edge galls. Can anyone identify the sawfly species?
