This is a Neocicada hieroglyphica var. johannis according to my friend Alan Sanborn of Berry University, who sent me a revised (2005)paper on this species, from 3 to 6 different ones rangeing from Maryland to florida to texas, to mexico and central america.

Neocicada hieroglyphica (f. johannis)
A common cicada in parts of the Southeast. Florida populations usu. have less black pigmentation and belong to the taxon N. hieroglyphica johannis.
