This is a Exuviae (shell) of a N. hieroglyphica var. johannis, taken in the same oak tree as the male and female photo's were taken on the same day.

)
A common cicada in parts of the Southeast. Florida populations usu. have less black pigmentation and belong to the taxon N. hieroglyphica johannis.
