Found a cluster of these on some Batchelors Buttons plant.
They stayed around for a few weeks and I got 2 photos of different stages, but didn't stay around til full adult size.

You have such wonderful photos! (And an active garden....) What is your camera? I'm learning to use my new Nikon D200 and love it.

Camera
For most of my shots I use a Canon PowerShot A620.
I also have a Canon 20D, but it is too much to carry around all the time. I got tired of saying "I wish I had my camera" so got this one.
It is small enough to carry in my purse or pocket and the quality is pretty good. Only wish it had a better micro. I only get the close-up shots on very co-operative critters!

Thank you for the info! I wil
Thank you for the info! I will look into the A620 because my D200 is very heavy (although it's fabulous) and not always practical for hiking around.

I think they have a newer version out now! The A720 or something like that.

They do.
I've been shooting with an A700 for the past year, and A720 has been around for a few months at least. Manual focus (for the A700} is not too bad (I much prefer it over auto focus), but it really needs cooperative critters. The camera's prone to acting up, though, and can often be a source of frustration. Other times, it gets shots that you never thought a digital camera can get.
