digginflowers may be right but I have a hard time being sure of the difference between H. fucosa and H. miniata

is definitely more towards the yellow end of the spectrum. Does the black patch on the thorax help with ID?

Go to this page on MPG 1 and click on each page for these two. Both show great changes in coloration and both can have black heads. I studied these and finally decided I had both species when I spread this one .

Painted Lichen Moth
Looks like Hypoprepia fucosa. At the moment my screen is not as big as I would like to see your photo color clearly. Hope this helps.
