Some type of caterpillar or hellgramite ?

Size: 3 inches long
This insect was found on a log in a wood pile .It almost resembles a hellgramite but I never saw one with these colors .This is the best picture I could get without disturbing it .

Maybe even something like the Bride, Catocala neogama, see and neither firmly ID'd unfortunately.

I'm not familiar with cryptically-patterned caterpillars, but off the top of my head I believe this is an Underwing caterpillar (Catocala spp.). Let's see what others have to say.
