small beetle - Loberus impressus

small beetle - Loberus impressus
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 25, 2007

Moved
Moved from Beetles.

Sphindidae
- most probably.

If so, it's not Sphin*dus or Eurys*phindus,
which have much different antennae. In neighboring New Hampshire there is only one other possibility, Odontos*phindus, but the example shown in American Beetles also has antennae that look much different from this one's. Basically, all the sphindid antennae appear to have a much more compact and wider club than this one.

Frankly it looks more like Loberus impressus to me.

Jim is right!
Thanks for intervening, Jim! Languriidae is a family (almost) not represented in Europe, which may explain my error . . .

What size
?

I didn't measure it,
but it's in the range of 2.5-3mm
